The JewQ International Torah Championship

We are excited to be participating in JewQ - the International Torah Championship where children learn and get tested on basic concepts in Judaism.

Participants expand their knowledge through exams covering key prayers, liturgy, mitzvot, Jewish holidays, life cycle events, and heroic figures in Jewish history. An online game zone offers a fun way to review and reinforce learning.

Students earn prizes with each test. Those averaging 70% across three tests qualify for a local championship and grand trip, and have the opportunity to join the NYC Ckids Shabbaton and the International JewQ Championship.

Ultimately, every contestant gains a richer understanding of Jewish traditions and Torah values.

Key JewQ Facts

  • JewQ is for children grades 3 through 7.

  • We'll meet each Sunday morning that Hebrew School is in session, 9:30am-10:00am, from the beginning of the Hebrew School year through March. (Hebrew School continues through May.)

  • Each year has specific information for that age

  • Each child will be given 3 tests throughout the learning periods to keep them motivated and ascertain their level. 

  • Those who score an average of 70% through all 3 tests will be able to participate in the local Championship Gameshow and grand trip. (Cost of trip not included in registration.)

  • Optional: Those who score an average of 70% through all 3 tests will have the opportunity to join the NYC Ckids Shabbaton & Parent Retreat and the International JewQ Championship, which will take place on March 20-22. 

  • In addition, there will be other perks and prizes throughout the way (including a prize for each test taken). 

Cost

  • JewQ is a separate program that will run parallel to Hebrew School and follow our Hebrew  School calendar.

  • There is a one time cost of $200 to cover the cost of the student book, curriculum, tests and prizes.

  • There will be a cover charge for the local grand trip at the end of the program for those who make it. 

  • The cost for the NYC Ckids Shabbaton & Parents Retreat, which will take place on March 20-22, is $375 per person plus flights, and includes: Lodging - 2 Night hotel stay; Food - 3 meals a day, plus snacks; Trips, Activities and Tickets to the JewQ International Torah Championship Show and Concert. If we travel as a group from Florida, we will coordinate group transportation. Details and cost TBD. Additional details about the Ckids Shabbaton can be found here. 

Note: JewQ runs as an add-on to Hebrew School. Registration is part of Hebrew School registration and can be completed at www.JewishAltamonte.com/CHS. Just one simple form and your child will be all set to join both our weekly Hebrew School program and the exciting JewQ Torah Championship!
