Community Torah Dedication

  • We’re writing our very first community Torah - and you’re invited to be part of this historic moment.

We are excited to announce the writing of The Portnoy Family Community Torah - a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for our local Jewish community to come together and fulfill the Torah’s final commandment.

In Jewish tradition, every letter in the Torah is holy, and every Jew is encouraged to participate in its writing. The Torah’s 613th mitzvah tells us: "And now, write for yourselves this song, and teach it to the Children of Israel" (Devarim 31:19).

Now, you can dedicate a verse, portion, or section in this new Torah - whether in honor of a loved one, in memory, or as a personal merit - and take part in a deeply meaningful mitzvah. Your dedication will be honored as we use this Torah, in our community, for years to come.

Those who participate by dedicating a chapter or more will be invited to inscribe one of the final letters of the Torah at our joyous Torah Dedication & Celebration on Sunday, September 14, 2025.

Dedication opportunities are listed below. Payment options available.

To discuss options or for any questions, please reach out to [email protected] or call 407-720-8111.

  • Torah Dedication Opportunities

Whether in honor of a loved one, in memory, or as a personal merit, your dedication connects you to the timeless words of the Torah and to this historic community effort. Every portion holds deep meaning - and every contribution brings us one step closer to completing our Torah together.

  • From the Eitz Chaim (wooden rollers) to the Crown, Breastplate, Yad (pointer), or even the Aron Kodesh (Holy Ark) itself - these meaningful dedications are a lasting way to honor a loved one and become part of something eternal. Each item will hold a special place in our community for generations to come.

  • Dedicate a Torah portion or special section with deep personal meaning.
Choose from a full Parsha, one of the five Sefarim (books of the Torah), a powerful Chazak section, or a unique passage like the Ten Commandments or V’zot HaBracha. These sacred dedications can be made in honor of a loved one, a life milestone, or as a lasting legacy for future generations.

  • Dedicate something personally meaningful - from a name to a milestone.
Endow the first letters of your Hebrew name, a word, verse, or chapter in the Torah that holds special significance to you or someone you love. You can also dedicate an Aliyah or Maftir portion - perhaps one read at a Bar Mitzvah, wedding, or on a yahrtzeit - creating a powerful and lasting connection to cherished moments in your life.
